Review of Country Local Government Fund

On 22 August 2011 the Minister for Regional Development announced the Review of the Country Local Government Fund (CLGF). The Review was conducted by the Western Australian Regional Development Trust (Trust).
The Trust conducted an independent, evidence-based review to determine whether there is a continuing need for the CLGF, and if so, in what form, with what budget parameters, and with what purpose. More information on the Review is available in the Terms of Reference (below).
The Trust consulted with the relevant stakeholders, which included the country local governments, relevant industry bodies and government departments.
The review was conducted in the 2011-12 financial year and was presented to the Minister on the 31 January 2012.

After a 30 day public comment period, which closed on 11 May 2012, the government has now responded to the 26 recommendations made by the Trust. The Department of Regional Development and Lands is the lead agency in implementing these recommendations.  Click here to view the government response.
