The
Performing Arts Tours Boost project has granted three arts groups a
share of $192,000 to tour 28 regional WA towns in 2015, made possible through
the State Government’s Royalties for Regions
Program.
Country audiences in 28
towns from Broome to Albany and Fitzroy Crossing to Merredin will have the
chance to see acclaimed shows in their local areas next
year.
The music and theatre
performances by Marrugeku Inc, Gina Williams and The Skeletal System, produced
by Performing Lines WA will explore the themes of climate change, sharks and
music.
Artists will work with local
presenters to develop ways of engaging with the community through workshops and
other activities.
Regional Development
Minister Terry Redman said Royalties for Regions was providing $1 million over
three years to the Boost arts regional touring program.
“Boost will provide regional
communities with the opportunity to experience an increased variety of live
performances that meet the artistic preferences of the region,” Mr Redman
said.
