The horticulture district along the Gascoyne
River has received a power boost with stage one of the northern bore field
switching to electricity-powered water pumps.
This is a major milestone in the State
Government’s $25 million Royalties for Regions funded
Gascoyne Food Bowl
initiative which will ensure more reliable and cheaper water
pumping and improved efficiencies.
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said
the Gascoyne Food Bowl project would secure the precinct’s role as a major fresh
produce supplier.
“The Gascoyne Food Bowl project has the potential
to significantly increase horticultural production, contributing to economic
diversity and development in the region,” Mr Redman said.
