New Esperance waterfront celebrated!

The new Esperance waterfront was officially opened on Sunday 30 November after a 20-month transformation.
The $35.5 million project includes the construction of a 1.1 kilometre seawall along the Esperance promenade, headland around the Tanker Jetty area, community infrastructure and landscaping, along with an upgrade to the southern foreshore area.
The completion of the Esperance Waterfront Project will provide the Esperance foreshore with protection from coastal erosion, while at the same time enhancing the foreshore for recreational and commercial development.
The works also included the redevelopment and upgrade of essential facilities and equipment on the southern foreshore, including footpaths, playground equipment, landscaping, seating, barbecues, bike racks, picnic shelters, shade sails, lighting, toilet block and public art including the iconic whale tail.
The local community now has modern facilities and recreational areas suitable for all ages and abilities.
The entire Esperance waterfront project consists of four stages with stages 1 and 2 funded and now delivered with $19.7 million from the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.
