New northern beef centre open for business

The Northern Beef Development Centre is now open in Broome as part of a $15 million investment in the northern beef industry aimed at improving markets, businesses and productivity.

Specialists at the centre will help pastoralists implement on-station production improvements and conduct forage trials to grow mosaic agriculture opportunities in the north.

The centre will also house the Kimberley Cattlemen's Association and the Water for Food West Kimberley projects team.

Northern Beef Futures is a four-year project and is just one of 15 programs under the $300 million Seizing the Opportunity in Agriculture initiative, made possible by the State Government's Royalties for Regions program.
