Eligible athletes can receive
funding for out-of-pocket travel and accommodation expenses directly related to
competitions and programs in accordance with the performance level categories
and eligibility criteria outlined in the application guidelines.
Regional Development Minister Terry
Redman said many young athletes were excluded from State and national
representation at sporting events due to ongoing travel requirements and
associated costs.
“Through this scheme, Royalties for
Regions is improving opportunities for talented young people to reach their
sporting dreams, even while living in regional Western Australia,” Mr Redman
said.
Metropolitan athletes have been
allocated $1million and in regional Western Australia, a total of $1.75 million
over four years has been allocated through the State Government’s Royalties for
Regions program.
Closing date is 23 January 2015.
