Performing Arts Regional Touring Boost Arts Program
Project status: Ongoing until 2017
Regional communities in Western Australia have the opportunity to see more touring arts performances, thanks to a partnership between the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Royalties for Regions program.
Royalties for Regions is investing $1 million over four financial years from 2014 till 2017 in the Performing Arts Regional Touring Boost program to increase access to arts events in regional towns and cities.
The program aims to increase the number and diversity of professional small to medium circus, comedy, dance, music, theatre and multi–arts shows touring regional communities in Western Australia.
A skills training package will also be developed for regional venue managers, arts organisations and volunteers to improve their skills and confidence in hosting performing arts tours at their local venues.
Providing regional communities with the access to arts and culture increases the amenity of regional towns, improving the quality of life.
This initiative is part of the State Government's Regional Arts and Cultural Action Plan, which aims to increase creativity and access to the arts in regional areas across Western Australia.
Boost is administrated by the Department of Culture and the Arts.
