Exmouth Town Centre and Foreshore Revitalisation
Project status: Completed – opened October 2014.
"As a business owner in the town centre, there has been a noticeable difference in the number of people that use the area as a place to relax and socialise, whereas previously it was just a place to do your shopping or other business. This is very important to business owners and the local community," said Ray White Real Estate Exmouth's Principal Mark Lucas.
The Exmouth community now has a vibrant commercial centre that is robust enough to grow and accommodate the ever changing dynamics and demands of a modern CBD.
The $11.08m Exmouth Town Centre and Foreshore Revitalisation project received $6.85 million Royalties for Regions funding for upgrades to the town beach and undergrounding of power in the central business district.
Key project works included:
- Reconstruction of Thew Street
- Road realignments to improve traffic flow
- Increased town parking
- Redevelopment of Federation Park
- Enhanced town beach and marina bridge area.
- Undergrounding of power.
Exmouth is set to become a dynamic and diverse town and projects such as this assist in attracting visitors and retaining residents and support the council in achieving its aim to double the population to 5,000 people.
The revitalisation and redevelopment of the Exmouth town centre and foreshore will provide the community with an enhanced quality of life, and bring the wider region opportunities for increased economic development.
The revitalisation project complements other Royalties for Regions funded projects in Exmouth such as the water spray park, skate park, recreation centre and Learmonth airport.
