Perenjori Parenting and Early Childhood Centre
Project status: Nearing completion
Royalties for Regions has helped establish a new parenting and early childhood centre in Perenjori, with an investment of $1.1 million.
The Perenjori Early Childhood Centre is being built next to Perenjori Primary School and will offer affordable childcare, parental support, community training and a playgroup.
The centre will contain a dedicated 19-place childcare facility, with health and education rooms and flexible community spaces to accommodate a variety of early childhood support and development programs.
It will also offer a toy library and Aboriginal early childhood development services.
The centre complements Mid West independent public schools in Perenjori, Three Springs and Coorow, forming a children's hub in the region.
Prior to this centre being built, there was no licensed childcare service in Perenjori. Parents seeking childcare services had to pursue ad hoc childcare arrangements or travel to either Morawa or Three Springs to utilise the already at-capacity services.
The centre now assists with attracting and retaining new and existing young families in the Shire, with options for parents to (re)enter the workforce.
