Fitzroy Crossing Courthouse
Project status: In progress
$5.1 million has been provided by the State Government's Royalties for Regions program over three years for the construction of a new Fitzroy Crossing Courthouse to be built on the current police station site.
The new building, which is expected to be completed in late 2015, will have a courtroom, interview rooms and office accommodation for the circuiting magistrate and support staff.
The modern and culturally appropriate facility will enhance the efficiency of the court system, make prisoner transfers safer and lead to better outcomes for the community.
The new facility will increase the justice operations in the region beyond the next 25 years.
