Building Better Regional Cities

Project Status: In progress

The City of Greater Geraldton, in partnership with the Mid West Development Commission, is working towards improving community connectivity, road safety and traffic flow through the Building Better Regional Cities - Karloo and Wandina project.

The project has been made possible with a $13.97 million investment through Royalties for Regions and will improve road links from Geraldton's northern suburbs to the southern suburbs by reconnecting Karloo to Wandina and improving access to the Brand Highway.

The soon to be constructed Verita Road will serve as the main access to the Southern Districts Sporting Complex as well as the commercial shopping precinct in Wandina and opens further opportunity for land and housing developments.

At a total cost of $27.97 million, the project will also provide the infrastructure required for the development of affordable land and housing packages in Karloo and Wandina by the Department of Housing and the City of Greater Geraldton.

The Project aims to:

  • provide infrastructure to accommodate part of the forecast population growth of Geraldton
  • mitigate against social and economic issues associated with a lack of appropriate stock of affordable housing.
