Marble Bar Road upgrade
Project status: in progress
The State Government is investing $20million, comprising $10 million investment through Royalties for Regions and $10 million from Main Roads to upgrade and seal Marble Bar Road between Newman and the Ripon Hills turn-off.
The works will greatly improve road safety and make the road more reliable in the wet season when road closure impacts the sustainability of remote communities serviced by the road, due to poor access and higher transport costs.
A 10 Year Development Strategy is also being prepared in consultation with a local community reference group to identify priorities for further upgrades.
The works are expected to be completed in 2015.
