Margaret River Perimeter Road
Project status: in progress
The 7km Margaret River Perimeter Road to bypass the town is being constructed in two stages.
The $4.7million total cost for stage one, a 1.8km section from Bussell Highway to south of Rosa Brook Road, is made possible with a $3.5million Royalties for Regions investment, including $2.5 million from the South West Development Commission through the Regional Grant Scheme.
The road will provide an alternative route for heavy vehicles around the Town of Margaret River which will enhance safety for both pedestrians and local traffic in the commercial and tourist precinct, as well as reducing congestion.
Construction of stage one is expected to be completed by April 2015 and is being managed by Main Roads. The second stage will construct the remaining 5.2km from Rosa Brook Road to Bussell Highway north of town.
