Improving Water Quality in Remote Aboriginal Communities

Project status: In progress

Royalties for Regions has invested $12.1 million over three years to undertake urgent upgrades to improve drinking water quality in remote Aboriginal communities.

The Improving Water Quality in Remote Aboriginal Communities initiative will improve the quality and supply of drinking water in over 28 remote communities in the Kimberley, Pilbara and Goldfields regions and deliver safe and clean water supplies for residents and service providers.

Managed by the Department of Housing, the works address public health problems related to hazardous levels of chemicals and water borne diseases by addressing infrastructure deficiencies and ensuring compliance with the water quality requirements of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
