All tiers of government, business and communities help contribute to the success of our regions to make a difference to the everyday lives of Western Australians.

Through policy, services and programs like the Country Age Pension Fuel Card, the Local Content Adviser Network, and a range of Grants and Funding, the Department supports the regions to create prosperity for Western Australians and opportunities for future generations.

The Regional Development Portfolio, comprising the Western Australian Regional Development Trust; the Regional Development Council; the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development; and the State’s nine Regional Development Commissions work collaboratively to build strong regions with strong economies that benefit all Western Australians.

Regional development is fundamentally about the people who live, work and invest in our regions. It is about the community and economies in these regions, and how they contribute to a growing and sustainable future for all Western Australians. This Regional Development Framework represents the desire of the nine Regional Development Commissions and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to achieve meaningful outcomes for regional WA by collaborating, coordinating and aligning actions that draw on our collective expertise and are tailored for regional difference.
